The library can help you convert old home videos on VHS to digital formats. Please contact the library or fill out our Book a Librarian form and we will schedule an appointment to show you how to set up the machine.
- Patrons are required to bring in their VHS tapes and provide a blank DVD-RW disc. Blank DVD-RW discs are purchasable at the library at the time of your appointment for $1 a disc if you do not have your own.
- The conversion process can take some time. To convert the tape to a digital format, it will take the same amount of playtime as the video. To burn to a DVD, it will take a little more time, based on the size of the video file.
- Librarians will help set up the machine to start converting, but will not be present the entire time it takes to convert the files. Patrons are expected to be present at the time the video file has played through and stop the conversion process.
- Our VHS to DVD Conversion sessions are by appointment only and are subject to room, technology, and librarian availability.
