Character Pen Pals Letter Writing (Ongoing)
Make a child smile by writing a letter as their favorite character! Sign up using this form, then pick up letter writing materials and instructions at the Youth Services desk. Completed letters should be returned to the library as soon as you are finished. For each program quarter, volunteers can earn up to five service hours by participating in Character Pen Pals. Please allow staff time to get your kit ready before coming in; you will be notified via email when your kit is available.

Teen Treat Your Shelf! Book Bag
Have you heard about subscription services like OwlCrate or Once Upon a Book Club? For a monthly fee, these services send you a package containing one book and a few treats to go along with it.
The Lemont Public Library District has rolled out a similar service just for teens and tweens! Best of all, our service is completely FREE!
If you are in grades 6-12, you can sign up each month to get four books selected especially for you based on your input. Those who sign up will receive one of our amazing Teen Book Bags, filled with a selection of snacks and surprises and, of course, new books to try.
*Please note that we cannot fill new book bag requests till we receive previous bags from patrons*
*PLEASE RETURN ALL BAGS TO THE PATRON SERVICES DESK WHEN RETURNING BOOKS*
*DO NOT PUT IN OUTSIDE DROP BOX*
*A FINE OF $1 WILL BE CHARGED IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE THE BAG BACK*
Here’s how it works:
- If you would like to get one of these bags, you must sign up online before the 15th of each month. This is not an ongoing subscription! Sign up each month to receive your bag, and skip any month where you don’t want one.
- You will receive an email or phone call when your Book Bag is ready to be picked up, around the 1st of the next month. Bags can be picked up at the Lemont Public Library District's Youth Services desk and checked out with your library card. You will have one week to pick up your bag.
- When you’re done with your books and the bag, please return both to the library. The bags cannot be returned through the book drop; please bring them inside and hand them to someone at the patron services desk. The bag and the books inside will be due back at the library three weeks after you check them out. The rest of the bag’s contents are yours to keep!
School Visits
Would you like a librarian to visit your junior high or high school classroom? To book a visit, please email Jazmin Wilkerson at jwilkerson@lemontlibrary.org. Please book your visit at least two weeks in advance as availability is limited.
