We are seeking a highly energetic, team-oriented children’s librarian to take our children’s services and their career to the next level! Work in a lively, modern library with enthusiastic, dedicated staff to provide services to a growing children’s population, in a small, friendly community who love their library.

Applicants must demonstrate a proven ability and interest in providing innovative, interactive and educational programs, collections and services to children, families and caregivers.

The ability to motivate and lead a team,  organize and prioritize, communicate effectively with patrons and staff, provide gracious, friendly service to patrons of all ages and serve as a positive role model to other staff and an effective member of the management team are essential attributes.

Key responsibilities include:

Hiring, training, supervision and scheduling of Children’s Services staff.

Selection, maintenance and marketing of children’s materials.

Planning, marketing and implementation of innovative programs that meet the needs of young patrons and their families.

Outreach to schools and community groups to increase awareness of library services to children, parents and teachers.

Work collaboratively with other members of the management team to further the Library Director and Board’s goals.

Education & Experience:

MLS and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a Children’s department in a public library is required.  Supervisory experience in a public library setting is preferred.

Experience with collection development and children’s programming is essential.
