Helping Veterans on the Home Front – October 1 – November 13
The Library is partnering with the Ladies Auxiliary of Lemont VFW Post 5819 and the Lemont-Homer Glen Rotary Club to collect items needed by local veterans. For each item donated, you will receive a coupon for $1.00 off library fines or $1.00 worth of free printing or faxing (up to a maximum of $10 per account). Click on links below for a list of needed items.
Donations will be distributed to the following:
The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, IL founded by Vietnam War veteran Bob Adams and Gulf War veteran Dirk Enger, is a registered 501 (c)(3) organization that provides transitional and affordable housing programs and supportive services to U.S. Veterans of any era, as well as their families, to help them out of homelessness and back to useful, productive lives.
The Fisher House at the Hines V.A. Hospital in Wheaton is “a home away from home” for family members, caregivers or loved ones of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. It is a temporary residence and is not a treatment facility, hospice or counseling center. By law, there is no charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
A gift to the Library benefits the whole community. Monetary donations to purchase books or non-print materials and funding for programs and services are welcome.
Gifts may also be made to the Library in honor or in memory of a person, to celebrate a
family event or to mark any special occasion. An acknowledgement of gifts is sent to the person being honored; memorial gifts are acknowledged to the family of the deceased. Book memorials are recognized with a book plate bearing the name of the donor and the name of the person for whom the book was purchased. You may specify an area of interest or leave the selection to the Library.
We deeply appreciate the donations we receive from members of the community. Donations to the library are generally tax-deductible, to the extent allowed by law.
You may call Library Director Sandra Pointon at (630) 257-6541 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you may have.
